SupportLink is designed as an intervention strategy to address the need to enhance the safety of individuals identified at risk of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking. The purpose of the SupportLink program is to increase safety and mobility for individuals identified at risk of domestics violence, sexual assault and/or stalking. A cell phone is part of an intervention strategy for person’s identified as high risk. VCARS is a community-based service, which assists police in providing short-term emotional and practical assistance to victims of crime, tragic circumstance, and disaster. Crisis Assistance is proved by specially trained community volunteers who are on-call to area police services 25 hours a day, 7 days a week. Volunteers are recruited from within each community and understand the particular needs of their areas. A comprehensive screening process and ongoing training ensures that victims are assisted with compassion, respect, and dignity in a confidential manner.
